Contemporary music sensation Face the Music brings the sounds of the everyday world to life in this varied program. This program of new classical music is full of recognizable New York sounds. You will hear both Latin and Jewish music in the works of Lev Zhurbin, whose “Bagel on the Malecon” depicts his dream of eating a bagel in Havana. Zach Detrick’s world premiere “Blisters on My Fingers” brings together the Beatles, funk, and ‘old classical’ in the musical espresso shot. And the nostalgic music of Kenji Bunch (“String Circles”) and Philip Glass (“Glassworks”) will remind you of the movies you have never seen.
